Hey all.

I own a home now. I have a mortgage! What even is anything?!

So yes, I have been busy with that and cartoon job. I've also gone and bought 3D assets for the comic to help with the backgrounds for both this chapter and the redux chapters, which should help out a lot in terms of using less brain power coming up with backgrounds and just making them look nicer and more fully realized. The whole aphantasia thing really makes things like visualizing the world Kilo Monster and company live in difficult on top of all the other hard stuff about backgrounds, so here's hoping it all gets better from here.

I can't say updates will be more consistent as I'm still in the process of moving, BUT I'm still committed to ending chapter 5 this year come hell or high water. 

Well, as expected, I gotta go back to one page updates a week for a bit. Trying to draw 10+ hours every day with no days where I reduce it to 8 hours or just...not drawing for one day, is not great for my hand. Right now it's fine, but it's too early to try to be pushing myself to my limit and really hurting myself down the line.

I don't like having only one page, especially during an action sequence, but it's gotta be done. I might be able to change that in between seasons at day job, but we'll see, cause I might try taking up freelance to help with the house hunt as well. 

But right now the present is what is important. And Ayshia is kicking ass. 

The big guy is still very nervous about talking to strangers, but we are practicing on his social talking skills before any official "Vtuber debut". Following the Twitch channel should give you notifications on those surprise streams if you want to give your encouragement and support to our hero. I'll keep folks posted about the more regular streams.

I've only got one page update in me this week, because *gesturing to all of last week*.

I don't really have anything to say about 2021. If I continue to post two pages a week, the Nightmare arc of Monster's Garden will finish by July... but, let's not hold our breath. I've still got full-time studio work, I'm thinkin' about grown-up stuff like mortgages, and still not an art machine despite my best efforts. 

But if the Nightmare Arc completes before Dec 31, 2021. I'll consider that a success.

Well, that sure was a year.

The last four years has been terrible for drive to work on what's meant to be a story about hope and coming together to defeat a great evil. It's...still not great and believe me, I'm not happy that half of the time this comic has been online has been in hiatus hell because of events going on in my world. But it is what it is.

Despite the raging pandemic, I am actually in a better place, career-wise. My Patreon closed over the summer because *ta-dah* I am a full-time storyboard revisionist. I happen to work for a mouse, and when more info comes out for the show I'm working on, you will not be surprised that I've managed to be involved with it.

Anyway, the Patreon put too much pressure on Monster's Garden to try to generate revenue to live off of, so I am glad to be done with it for now. Maybe it will come back in another form for more general art, but I'm not in a rush. 

It's still going to be difficult juggling updating Monster's Garden while being a full-time working artist, but I'm hoping to implement some time-saving measures to keep updates more consistent (Tuesdays and Thursdays, fingers crossed). 

Uh...I know it's currently Monday but it's Monster's Garden 8th anniversary, it can update if it wants.

Phew! Chapter 4 is over finally, clocking in at 71 pages and uh, 3 years. Webcomic time sucks, exacerbated by day job and such. Now that the chapter is over, I encourage folks to go back and binge-read to reorient themselves to the plot. 

The title page to Chapter 5 will be posted on November 26 and then regular updates will begin on December 3rd (cause I don’t think I’ll actually work on the comic during Thanksgiving.) I’ll see about posting some reader Q’s during the break week on Wednesday.

My storyboarding gig had wrapped up in September and it’s pretty safe to say that I cannot draw 8 hours a day 5 days a week and still draw for myself without hurting myself. I also felt that this critical moment needed more polish and now that I’m more or less happy with what I’m posting, I feel justified in taking my time. As I’ve always said, Monster’s Garden is a story I’ve had for most of my life and I’ll only be dropping it if I die. Though seriously, I do personally want to finish this arc by 2020.

Things are getting heavy these next few pages, so buckle up, drink some water, and take care of yourself.
